Kia ora koutou! With study picking up again, all the best and don’t hesitate to ask for help.
As students, we are a major part of the Palmerston North community and decisions affecting the community affect us. That’s why MUSA is supporting the establishment of Māori wards alongside our partner association, Manawatahi. We are proud to once again put students at the front of fighting for social change.
Papers will be going out on April 27 in a referendum to determine whether we establish Māori wards. Māori wards allow those on the Māori electorate roll to vote for a Palmerston North Councillor to represent them. Having signed te Tiriti over 100 years ago, it’s about time.
So, make sure you that if you live in Palmerston North or Manawatu, you are enrolled to vote at your current address. Ensure you’re making an informed decision.
Lastly, get active. If this is a kaupapa you believe in, we need volunteers to kōrero and to be visible at markets, to door knock, to phone call, and to share messages. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if this sounds like you.
Get enrolled. Get informed. And get active.
